Meet the artist

Hi, I am Shruti! I started doing Henna at the age of 10 and learnt about it from my mum. Being from an Indian background, I have admired the artform since childhood. My mother is an amazing artist and my inspiration. My love for art came from her I guess. I remember there was a time when she was doing my henna, and I got upset that I couldn’t be as good as her. The sole reason I am a henna artist today is my Mum who always encouraged and supported me! Even today, when I send her images of my work, she is my best critic.

I started doing henna for friends and family when I moved to Sydney after High School in 2015. I did voluntary henna for about 2 years, and one day decided to make this my side gig. That is how Henna Hub Sydney was born. I wanted to spread my love for natural henna.I  started taking up small appointments along with university and realised henna is much more than just a business, it was my passion. Ever since that day, I strive to improve myself and learn from the amazing artists in this world. My priority to provide bespoke designs along with seamless customer service.

Apart from henna, I have a double degree graduate in Bachelors of business and Bachelors of Science from UTS. I work in IT, and continue to work on my small business on the side.

Frequently asked questions

Henna, sugar and essential oils

Henna is a natural safe body art, made from the plant Lawsonia inermis. The plant releases a reddish -brown stain which is used to adorn parts of the body. Once a Henna Pattern is drawn, it is recommended to keep it for a minimum of 6 hours (overnight preferred). Once the dry henna paste comes off, it is recommended to avoid contact with water.

Natural henna is safe. Henna hub Sydney uses 100% organic, natural and safe on all types of skin. We use high quality Henna Powder from reputed suppliers. Our henna contains natural henna powder, Eucalyptus essential oil/ tea tree Essential oil/Lavender Essential oil and Sugar. Even though its 100% natural and organic, its best to check with a G.P before any appointment. Please let us know if you have any allergies or you are pregnant, so that we can make a henna paste to suit your skin.

Your health is our priority. Since you know your skin the best, we would be unable to take responsibility for any allergies. We like to have transparency with our clients to avoid any confusion.

A henna artist should make their own paste and should be able to tell their ingredients. If you feel that your artist does not know what is in their henna, or if the henna applicator looks like store bought product (colourful with barcode, labels etc), you can tell its black henna.  Black henna is not natural and should be avoided at all costs.  It has harmful chemicals, PPD which can scar you for life, with other diseases. Please make sure to check with your Henna artist, if they make their henna paste. Natural Henna has a shelf life of maximum 2-4 days at room temperature.

  1. It is advised to take shower prior to henna appointment. Do not apply any creams, lotions to the skin.
  2. It is recommended to schedule manicure, pedicure, waxing appointments before the henna appointment and not post application.
  3. Leave the henna paste on for a minimum of 6 hours for best results. I personally recommend keeping the henna paste overnight or more than 12 hours.
  4. You can use lemon-sugar sealant or me-fix tape to help stick on your skin.
  5. Do not use water to remove your henna paste. I usually recommend scrubbing off the dry paste or use coconut/ olive oil to remove any excess parts.
  6. Water should be avoided for 24 hours to get the best results. If you need to wash off or take shower, applying any natural oil is advised to create a barrier from the water.
  7. The stain usually fully matures in 2-days. It is recommended that all bridal bookings are made 2 days prior to the actual event
  8. Henna loves to stay warm. You can heat up a few cloves in a pan and warm up your hands for best results
  9. Do not scrub or exfoliate your henna. It will fade away easily
  10. Once the henna paste is removed, try to keep your hands moisturised. You can use shea butter, cocoa butter or any lotion.
  11. Henna will usually be bright orange on stain removal. Do not stress and be patient. It eventually gets darker red/ brown with time.
