Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at thehennahubsydney@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Henna is a natural dye made from the leaves of the henna plant (Lawsonia inermis). It has been used for centuries across various cultures for cosmetic and medicinal purposes. Henna is used on the skin primarily for decorative body art, such as intricate bridal designs and festive adornments, as well as for its cooling and therapeutic properties in some cultures. It is also applied during special ceremonies and rituals to mark significant life events.

At Henna Hub Sydney, your safety is our priority. We use 100% organic and natural henna, suitable for all skin types. Our high-quality henna powder, sourced from Rajasthan, is blended with essential oils and sugar. Please let us know if you have any allergies or are pregnant so we can customize our henna paste for you. If you have any concerns, we recommend booking a patch test with us or consulting your GP before your appointment.

  • Stain Development: Natural henna takes 36-48 hours to develop from bright orange to dark brown. Leave the paste on for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight.
  • Removing Paste: Gently scrub off the dry paste or use coconut/olive oil to remove any excess. Avoid water for 12-48 hours for the best results.
  • Water Barrier: If you need to wash or shower, apply natural oil to create a barrier. You can also use sealant or me-fix tape.
  • Post-Removal Care: Keep your hands moisturized with shea butter, cocoa butter, or any natural oil. Henna loves warmth, so keep your hands warm.

Avoid:

  • Water for 24-36 hours.
  • Scrubbing or exfoliating the stain.
  • Washing the henna off with soap and water.
  • Using cling wrap or gloves to seal the henna.
  • Swimming, spray tans, or manicures immediately after.
